Installing a new pool? Hoping to convert your vinyl pool to a salt water pool? Vinyl liner pools often use salt chlorinator systems, so you’re in luck! It all comes down to how you maintain your pool.

Why a Saltwater System Doesn’t Destroy Your Vinyl Liner

Did you know that all salt water pools use chlorine for cleaning? Saltwater systems use a process called electrolysis which creates chlorine and sodium hydroxide (which is high in pH). If your pool never reaches extremely high levels of chlorine, then the deterioration of your pool liner, plumbing, and equipment won’t deteriorate as quickly.

The best salt water pool vinyl liner scenario is if you keep chlorine levels below 1.5ppm. When those levels rise above 1.5ppm, you run a risk of weakening your liner, making it more susceptible to cracks or punctures. That said, salt water vinyl pools are a great option if you’re diligent in maintaining a healthy chemical balance in your pool.

How Long Will a Vinyl Liner Last in a Salt Water Pool?

If you’re taking good care of your pool liner by keeping the water chemically balanced, there should be no effect on its decline over the years compared to a non-salt water pool. The actual lifespan of your vinyl liner will vary greatly on the quality of the materials used in construction. A liner can last over a decade and having a saltwater pool will not affect that. When you switch to a salt water system, you should check your pool’s chemical balance right away and possibly every day to prevent any issues from occurring.

When it comes to the best pool liners for inground pools, the most popular type is the vinyl pool liner. Not only are vinyl liners easy to clean and maintain, they’re some of the most affordable options for pool owners.

How Long Does an Inground Vinyl Pool Last?

Vinyl pool liners can last up to a decade, especially when properly installed, maintained, and cared for on a regular basis. They also require far less maintenance than their concrete and fiberglass counterparts since vinyl is an extremely durable, nonporous surface.

When the time finally comes to replace your vinyl pool liner, you won’t have to spend a fortune or wait very long. Your best bet is to schedule your pool liner replacement or new installation early in the season to avoid the rush to enjoy your pool as soon as possible.

What are the Construction Costs?

On average, a vinyl liner pool can cost far less than fiberglass and concrete, providing yet another reason why they’re the best pool liners for inground pools. Your budget will remain intact, saving your family tens of thousands of dollars.

Thinking about getting a vinyl pool installed by next summer and wondering when to start the process? With the right information about vinyl liner inground pool construction, deciding when and how to start the process becomes much easier.

Tips for Getting a Pool Installed by Next Summer

There’s no reason to feel rushed into any decision. You need to give yourself the time to plan your vinyl liner inground pool construction to get the backyard experience you want. But we’ll let you in on a little secret: most swimming pool contractors prefer building pools in the fall (and you should, too!). Here are some reasons why:

The construction isn’t hampered by weather. Your yard gets stabilized before winter and you just need some touch-ups in the spring

Your landscaping accompaniments will have at least six months to grow in so by the time spring hits you’ll have a vibrant environment. If you wait until spring, your installation will take longer and you will be well into the summer before your grass is growing again

You’re likely to get a bit of a deal in the fall. Manufacturers tend to increase prices in January, so building your pool before new rates are announced puts you in a good position to save a little money

Ultimately the best time to build a pool comes down to your lifestyle. There may be a higher cost to swim sooner. But waiting may mean paying less and waiting longer to swim.

Consult With Mid State Pool Liners About Your New Pool

If you’re thinking about renovating your pool, one of the best places to start is with some inground pool liner ideas. Providing beauty from the inside out, vinyl pool liners are the building block that will establish the concept and mood of swimming experience for many seasons to come. And best of all, the options are boundless.

Your personal preferences and the materials used will play a big role in selecting the best swimming pool liner for your inground pool. The vinyl pool liner is one of the most common and economical choices because they’re simple to clean and maintain. Here are a few things to consider when choosing yours.

Color
Make choosing a liner simple by deciding what you want the water color to look like. Going with a classic deep blue can emulate the ocean with mesmerizing depth and beauty. For a more rustic natural tone, choose one with the natural earth tone color of desert sands denoting resilience and steadiness.

Patterns
When you’re considering inground pool liner ideas, you can go for a custom pattern to make your swimming pool one in a million. Mosaic is always a crowd-pleaser, appearing like a wall of handcrafted artistry. Opt for the varying gray tones of tumbled rocks for a beautiful contrast to the blue water.

Borders
Sophisticated, yet understated, a multifaceted border pattern can be the perfect highlight. Whether it’s a bold chevron or a geometric blend of hexagons and diamonds, you have a lot of choices for a dramatic effect. We also offer several borderless patterns as well as the option to remove the border on any pattern.

Texture
Textured material for your pool steps is an essential. If you choose PVC pool steps, for instance, you’re getting an option that’s constructed to withstand the elements, provide safe passage in and out of the pool, and also look beautiful.

Thickness
Yes, you also have options when it comes to the thickness of your vinyl pool liner. Many professional builders actually prefer 20 mil liners, which help protect against abrasive pool surfaces and provide additional puncture protection. Normally liners don’t fail due to either issue, but in some cases thickness can be an added benefit, for example those who have pets or children that can more easily cause tears.

Luckily for you, Mid State Pool Liners offers the largest selection of inground pool liners available in the region. Check out our gallery to see more inground pool liner ideas.

With many families canceling their summer vacations and spending more time at home, installing a new pool seems to be more appealing than ever. Now that we’re in the heart of summer, the thought of staying cool while social distancing has put many swimming pool companies to work in backyards across the country.
If you don’t have a pool of your own, it’s never too late to take the plunge. Here are the top four reasons a pool can lead to the best backyard vacations.

4 Reasons You Need to Meet with Your Local Pool Builders

1. An Everyday Vacation
The best part about owning a swimming pool is the backyard vacation you get to experience each and every day. It’s a luxury to be able to relax and unwind and pool builders like Mid State Pool Liners guarantee their pools are the best way to do that. Plus, you can put together any kind of pool party for you and your friends (with plenty of social distancing, of course). They’re a great backdrop for birthdays, cookouts, holidays, and so much more.

2. No Crowds or Lines
If you were to go to the beach or a public pool, you’re bound to encounter tons of people. With a new pool there’s no need to worry about crowds or standing in line to get in. You can truly relax in peace, knowing it’s just you and your choice of guests.

3. You Know it’s Clean
It’s no secret that public pools can be a germaphobe’s worst nightmare. And during a pandemic, that thought can only escalate. The great thing about having your own backyard pool is that you and your family are the only ones using it. You control the cleaning, treatments, maintenance, and more, so you don’t have to worry about anything strangers might track in.

4. No Limits on Time
Once your pool builders install your backyard escape, there are no hours of operation. There’s no limit to the amount of time you can spend swimming or how late you can take a dip. You can get swimming as early in the morning or as late in the evening as you want. All you need is a good lighting system and you’ll have a pool that’s open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week!

If you own a swimming pool and have well water on your property, you face unique challenges. When it comes to pools and well water, ground minerals and trace metals like magnesium, calcium, and iron can cause serious problems. The hard water created by magnesium and calcium can cause pipes and filters to clog, and the presence of iron and manganese can cause very harmful bacteria to grow.
The good news is, a professional pool company like Mid State Pool Liners can help.

What to Consider When Filling a Pool with Well Water

If well water is the only option you have for filling your pool, it’s best to consult with a professional. Mid State Pool Liners can guide you through the process, helping with the following considerations:

● Using direct water from the well – Properties without municipal water can quickly fill their pool from the well. It’s easy, as long as the water’s not discolored, cloudy, or stinky, or you may need a professional swimming pool water treatment after filling it.

● Well water via a softener system – You can clean the water before it reaches your pool by attaching a water softener. It’s best to regularly apply metal-out products to contain and inactivate the metal particles before they cause any issues.

● Regular testing – It’s a good idea to test your water to know exactly how you will treat it. Take a sample of the water from the well to Mid State’s experts for testing.

● Swimming pool water treatment – The right chemicals can purify the well water after you fill the pool. You may need to adjust the pH, alkalinity, and chlorine, as well as remove metals and vacuum the rust from your pool.

● Removing iron – Well water is prone to high iron levels. Pool professionals can advise you on the proper testing and removal of any present iron buildup and keep the water fresh to help maintain your pool’s cleanliness.

Filling a pool with well water seems like a simple thing—and it can be. Schedule a consultation with a pool company like Mid State and you’ll know your swimming in a healthy, clean abyss!

Designer swimming pool liners have a way of transforming a pool into a work of art. Whether you’d like to update the look of your current in-ground pool, or enhance the beauty of a new pool, your choice of liner can end up being the spectacular centerpiece of your backyard environment. So what styles are trending in 2020?

Hottest Pool Liner Options in 2020

Dark/Light Pool Liners
While a classic, deep blue liner is always a fan favorite, this year we’re seeing more and more people diverge from the norm, opting for unique pool liner colors on the darker and lighter ends of the color spectrum. Dark grey and deep navy liners are on trend, along with sandy beige and light blues.

Borderless Patterns
No interest in classic styles or typical tile design? No problem! Your floor pattern can extend all the way up the sidewall to meet the coping or deck. The choices are endless!

Thicker Material
These days, pool owners are opting for thicker pool liner options in the 28-30 mil range, finding they’re better at resisting tears and rips more effectively. As you shop around, you’ll notice that liners are measured in both mils and gauges. Both can be misleading, so it’s important to ask for the precise measurements, in mils, of both the floor and walls of the liner before you make your purchase.

Textured Patterns
Elevate your pool with the illusion of motion. You can touch and feel the difference in this year’s fully textured and embossed liners infused with iridescent inks that glitter and sparkle.

If you’re a pool owner in the Somerset, Middlesex or Monmouth County areas, check out Mid State Pool Liners wide selection of swimming pool liners. Call our service manager, Donna, at 732-390-8080 ext. 12 for a free estimate or to learn more about which trend would look best in your pool.

We’ve put together a list of the top reasons why a poolside staycation can be better than a vacation.

Top 4 Reasons Even a Small Swimming Pool Can Offer a Big Summer Escape

When you own a large or small swimming pool, you can create your own backyard paradise that meets all the needs of you and your family. Here’s what else you can enjoy:

Less Time Spent Planning, Preparing, and Packing

You have a job, responsibilities, and a lot of other things on your plate. Add to that the time spent researching vacation destinations, finding a resort, and planning the details, and you already feel exhausted. When you have a staycation, all this planning time goes away, opening you up to more time–time that could be spent on the important things in life, like enjoying your family. Plus, the only things you need to pack to head to your backyard pool are sunscreen and sunglasses.

More Affordable in the Long Run

Pool installation cost is an expense, but it’s an expense that pays dividends in the value of your home and the enjoyment you receive from it. It also can save you money on future vacations. Think how much you can save by spending more vacations at home by your pool. Thousands, if not more!

It’s More Peaceful

Imagine relaxing on a lounge chair poolside with your favorite music, a frosty margarita, fresh air, and the beautiful scenery you hand-picked to look at every day of the year. Your home is an escape! On a beach vacation, you can relax poolside, but you’ll likely have the sounds of screaming children, music that isn’t your style, and a small swimming pool that may or may not be very beautiful–or clean.

You Can Make It Your Own

One of the best things about making your backyard a vacation spot is that you can make your pool space uniquely your own. If you like tropical locales, you can turn your pool space into a tropical paradise with the right landscaping, tiki torches, cabanas and more. If you can imagine it, you can have it!

This year, instead of dealing with the hustle and bustle of a typical vacation, head out to your pool and make the most of your family life! And if you don’t have one yet, get some pool installation cost comparisons from your local pool company. You can have one at any budget.

Vinyl pool liners serve as the barrier between your pool and the ground, keeping the water contained and preventing a pool leak. But if you see bubbles or wrinkles in the liner, this could be a sign of a serious problem.

Signs you Need Vinyl Pool Liner Repair

Bubbles in the liner are frequently caused by rising groundwater that seeps underneath the pool and pushes up on the liner. This usually occurs following rainy or wet periods that cause the groundwater to rapidly rise. In extreme cases, the welled-up water may cause wrinkling, causing the liner to float.

Here are some signs you may need vinyl pool liner repair.

When the groundwater retreats, the bubbles should disappear. If there’s water under pool liner areas, those bubbles will stick around, you’re dealing with a faulty liner.

Improper water balance can also cause bubbles. A pool leak will act in much the same way as rising groundwater, pushing up under the bottom of the liner. Improper water balance can cause wrinkles in the liner that appear as bubbles at the bottom.

Other causes include:

Improper installation

The wrong size vinyl liner for the pool

Low water levels that allow the liner to move and create a pool leak

Excess suction from the pool skimmer or vacuum

Large patches of algae under the liner that eventually stain the surface

Keep in mind air bubbles that settle on top of the liner are a normal part of pool operation and usually occur when the pool is being filled. You’ll notice they’ll go away once the water settles.

Water Under Pool Liner? Call a Professional

The good news is that manufacturers have successfully made improvements to the design of vinyl liner pools over the years. As a result, the walls and all the extra fixtures are attached with a stronger and tighter fit. If you’re noticing these bubbles or wrinkles, contact your local vinyl pool liner repair company and get back in the swim!

If you’re looking into installing a new pool or renovating an existing one, it’s time you considered the benefits of vinyl pools. Vinyl pool liners have risen to today’s design challenges, offering homeowners custom pool liners with ease of maintenance, flexible durability, and nearly limitless shapes and sizes.

Why Vinyl is One of the Best Types of Inground Pools

One of the most popular and timeless types of inground pools, the vinyl pool isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. They’re customizable in shape and size and have no limits on depth, length or width. What’s more, the material is non-abrasive, smooth to the touch and relatively nonporous, so it inhibits algae growth. By harnessing vinyl, pool experts can build you an outdoor escape that provides years of relaxation and comfort.

Easy Installation
When you decide to invest in a pool, you want to swim in it as soon as possible. The installation of vinyl pools comes with predictability, giving you a concrete start and finish time. Most other materials used for inground pool liner replacement or installation can be hindered by weather, pool size, and landscape environment.

Flexibility
A vinyl pool also comes in a wide range of shapes and colors, making it a smarter product that’s easy to update regularly. Just like you change your wallpaper in your dining room as your tastes change, vinyl pool liners offer the same flexibility. Like a tile pattern? Your professional pool company likely has a product that allows for custom tile along the waterline and the liner installed underwater. Vinyl also complements a variety of water features like rock slides, waterfalls, lighting, and more.

Algae Deterrent
Another one of the benefits of vinyl pools is their ability to deter algae and dirt buildup. The smooth surface makes maintenance a synch, and it will never scrape your skin when you brush against it.

Durability
Unlike gunite and concrete pools, which are more climate-dependent, vinyl pools have a forgiving structure, easily standing up to the elements. Give it the proper care and maintenance, and you can enjoy your vinyl pool for up to 20 years.
